This chapter examines the impact of telework on the balance between work and family life, with a focus on time poverty. As part of the measures to combat COVID-19, telework—or working from home—became a strategy to protect employees from potential infection. In this context, gender-stereotypical inequalities, particularly in the reconciliation of paid and unpaid (care) work, have intensified. Regarding time poverty, the situation became more precarious for women, partly due to the loss of support networks.

摘要

This chapter examines the impact of telework on the balance between work and family life, with a focus on time poverty. As part of the measures to combat COVID-19, telework—or working from home—became a strategy to protect employees from potential infection. In this context, gender-stereotypical inequalities, particularly in the reconciliation of paid and unpaid (care) work, have intensified. Regarding time poverty, the situation became more precarious for women, partly due to the loss of support networks.
