Currently, around 1.7 million people with a foreign citizenship live in Austria, of which 850,000 are women. The majority of them are employed, although their labour force participation is lower than that of Austrian citizens. Employment is considered a key prerequisite for societal participation and a driver for integration. This article questions the integrative effect of employment and addresses precarious working conditions and experiences of discrimination among foreign employees and especially women in Austria.
