The overarching aim of this dissertation is to contribute to establishing the human-animal relationship as a new subject for citizenship education, thereby filling a research gap. The work thus seeks to justify the relevance—even the necessity—of a topic for the discourse on political education that has so far held only a marginal position within it. In line with this overarching aim, this study—based on an analysis of subjective conceptions and incorporating academic perspectives on the human-animal relationship—explores politically didactic fruitful approaches to engaging with society’s relationship to animals. In this concluding chapter, the central findings are summarized.
