This chapter explains the epistemological perspective adopted in this work. In line with the research interest in students’ everyday conceptions of the human–animal relationship, approaches of constructivism are examined and a moderate constructivist stance is made fruitful for this study. Furthermore, the concept of conception relevant to this research is presented, and a conceptual clarification of concept change and concept reconstruction, in accordance with the constructivist approach, is provided. Finally, this chapter explains the model of (political-)didactic reconstruction and its implementation in this work.

摘要
