Transformation of Violence-Regulating Norms
摘要
As this study seeks to contribute to norm research in International Relations by providing insights to the practices of legitimation of powerful states, in this chapter, I focus on how states can induce norm change and act as norm entrepreneurs for violence-enabling norms. The theory-guided considerations serve the development of my conceptual understanding of practices of legitimation in norm transformation processes in the subsequent chapters. Following Friedrichs and Kratochwil’s approach of pragmatism and abduction, I favor working with concepts rather than theory.
