Digital Maturity Understanding Human–AI Interaction in Online Social Media
摘要
The project Digital Maturity (German: “Digitale Mündigkeit”) aimed to develop an approach for modelling the propagation of opinions under the influence of algorithmic participants, in particular social bots and recommendation systems, and in doing so, understand their effects on democratic opinion-forming processes. Employing agent-based modelling on different layers of observation (micro, meso, macro) allowed the opinion-forming processes to be guided through cross-level model integration. Understanding the impact of opinions became a crucial component during the COVID-19 pandemic where mis- and disinformation guided or misguided health protective behaviour across the world. By employing the established method on epidemiological models an improved understanding of the spread of SARS-CoV2 was attained and integrated in political counselling. Lastly, an educational open-source curriculum, both technically and methodologically, was developed, incorporating the methods applied at various qualification levels for different disciplines.
