The chapter reviews the scholarly debates on the impact of migration on development and vice versa. Moreover, it scrutinises the available literature on the migration-development nexus as approached in EU public policy. The chapter’s main finding is a lack of evidence pointing to a clear, unequivocal causality between development and migration. As a consequence, it is impossible to derive clear policy recommendations from the research on the migration-development nexus.
