The automotive industry is experiencing a significant shift towards sustainable and efficient mobility solutions. ZF Friedrichshafen AG has developed the electric drive platform SELECT, designed to address the growing demand for 800 V main drive systems. This platform focuses on achieving high torque, power density, efficiency, and acoustic performance while meeting stringent EMC requirements. It balances the need for mass production standardization with customer-specific customization, enabling high-volume production. The SELECT platform is scalable, covering power classes from 150 kW to 300 kW and output torque from 3000 Nm to 5500 Nm, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. Key features include modularity, standardized interfaces, and innovative packaging solutions that optimize space and weight. The first sample, a 300 kW coaxial primary drive, demonstrates the platform’s capability to enhance torque, efficiency, and real-world performance. This research represents a significant advancement in electric drive technology, offering flexible and cost-effective solutions to meet the evolving demands of the electric vehicle market.
