Validation of the Camera Stimulation Method Implemented on the KS-R2R Vehicle-in-the-Loop Testbed

The rapid progression of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Autonomous Driving (AD) technologies demand stringent validation methods to ensure their safety and reliability. This paper explores the efficacy of a Vehicle-in-the-loop (ViL) testbed, which can stimulate various ADAS sensors, thereby significantly reducing testing efforts and enhancing efficiency. This approach accelerates the homologation process and shortens the time-to-market for these technologies. Specifically, the study focuses on validating an over-the-air (OTA) camera stimulation setup within the KS Road-to-Rig (KS-R2R) testbed. This camera stimulation setup combined with the KS-R2R testbed’s proven inverter and control capabilities, which replicate diverse real road conditions, has proven to be a dependable tool for streamlining the testing and validation of camera-based ADAS/AD functions. Furthermore, this setup enhances the safety and reproducibility of these test and validation campaigns.
