Each generation of the Porsche 911 creates its own fascination. Porsche is continuously and carefully developing its icon with the famous sequence of numbers. The new 911 Carrera GTS (992 II) proves this by introducing a technical milestone to the world of Porsche sports cars: the principle of the performance hybrid drive. The new T-Hybrid powertrain in the 911 Carrera GTS models is particularly lightweight and can be integrated into the existing architecture of the 911 in a space-saving manner. This concept draws on inspiration from the motorsport world: the 911 GT3 R Hybrid, 918 Spyder and the 919 Hybrid, to name but a few influences. For the Porsche 911 T-Hybrid a lightweight unit was developed to be exceptionally flexible, suitable for everyday use as well as for hot laps on the racetrack. It consists of a newly developed 3.6-litre boxer engine with an electric turbocharger (eTurbo), an enhanced 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox (PDK) with integrated electric traction motor, a compact and lightweight high-voltage battery (HVB) and efficient power electronics. Newly developed operating strategies, which allow these components to interact perfectly, provide the T-Hybrid with an excellent balance of high performance and efficiency at low weight.
