Having discussed the building blocks needed to communicate effectively, the What and the How, over the next pages we will now review the Who and the Where, the Corporate Affairs function responsible for it: its place and role in the organization, its remit and requirements, and its contribution to the company’s success. Next, we will give an overview of the different disciplines that make up the function, followed by insights into where it “sits” within the structure of companies, additionally illustrated by organization charts. Note: This will reflect multinational businesses as only they maintain the whole spectrum of Corporate Affairs, allowing us to cover every part of the function one by one. Then, a section dedicated to the discipline of Investor Relations, a “hybrid,” and where it “belongs.” Finally, we will look at the high internal expectations of Corporate Affairs and its leader, we will identify its wide range of activities, and we will present a real-life Corporate Affairs Mission Statement.
