While the previous chapters answered RQ1-RQ4, the following chapter is focused on the contribution of the four studies to the overall research objective of this thesis, which is to examine how and why Blockchain Technology is used in e-business value chains. Firstly, the findings of the studies 1–4 are summarised. Secondly, their statements providing insights on explaining the BCT usage in e-commerce are combined to an overarching explanation and discussed with respect to the state-of-the-art. Thirdly, the main limitations of this thesis across the four studies are outlined. Finally, future research endeavours building on the findings of this thesis are presented.
