The principal motivation for this research was to make recommendations to policymakers that promote the continued economically efficient expansion of RE together with a secure electricity supply. To this end, policy scenarios were developed that simulate different market conditions and aim towards an economically efficient transition to sustainable electricity generation. This research focuses specifically on the German electricity market, as it is amongst the world’s leading countries with respect to energy transition.
