In this chapter, the basic mechanical load cases for one-dimensional sandwich beams under static loading conditions are treated in detail. The cases of tension/compression, bending and shear are considered. For each case the corresponding stress distributions are derived. The cases of general sandwich structures and the special cases of thin face sheets and/or soft core are investigated.

In this chapter, the basic mechanical load cases for one-dimensional sandwich beams under static loading conditions are treated in detail. The cases of tension/compression, bending and shear are considered. For each case the corresponding stress distributions are derived.
