Opposites Attract or Like Attracts Like? How University Students Navigate and Construct Diversity and Inequality Categories in Dating Apps Based on Empirical Research

Dating apps have simultaneously expanded the number of people we can meet while restricting, and enabling users to restrict, the type of people they want to date through the use of filters and algorithms. The internet increasingly allows people to meet and form relationships with those with whom they have no previous social ties. However, if dating apps promote couple relationships that are based on similarity categories it can lead to personal prejudices and a network divide between groups.
