Evaluation of Vehicle Safety
摘要
With the increase in road traffic due to the growing number of registered motor vehicles, the number of accidents also increased. Accordingly, legislative efforts began early to enact regulations for vehicles to improve traffic safety, without impairing mobility and traffic flow. To verify the safety measures, functional examinations are carried out on the one hand, on the other hand, the safety legislation for individual safety components or for the entirety of all safety devices represents a performance regulation, in which a distinction is made according to whether the legal requirements are met or not. The evaluation, however, aims to distinguish vehicle safety not only according to yes/no criteria, but also to quantitatively capture the subcritical and supercritical area, so that, for example, in the context of passive safety investigations, the occupant load values themselves represent the quality criterion and the level of the value correlates with the probability of body-part-specific injury. This provides the consumer with information on which he can assess the accident behavior, but also the accident avoidance potential, of a particular vehicle in comparison with another, within a vehicle class or even within the vehicle population.
