This concluding chapter provides the answer to the main research question: Are aging large-scale retail properties demolished prematurely? It summarizes the central results of theoretical and empirical investigations and gives an outlook for future research. Initially, aging was characterized as a “natural and inevitable process”, which requires further scientific research. Accordingly, aging mechanics, impact factors and the resulting lifetime of large-scale retail buildings were discussed.
