Chapter five opens the empirical heart of this thesis by analyzing the demolition of large-scale retail properties. Demolition is the very last consequence of the previously discussed aging process, which in the case of large-scale retail properties is strongly driven by obsolescence. If further use or redevelopment fail, demolition ends lifetime.
