A map—in the geographical sense—is a digital or analogue medium which represents the surface of the earth or other celestial bodies. The depicted content is mapped to scale and used for spatial orientation and navigation in the environment (cf. Fuechsel, 2024). Also, outside of geography, maps are used for organizing and structuring, e.g. the concept map for connecting knowledge, projects and particularly research (cf. Bond et al., 2020).
