The paper draws attention to the necessity of race-critical perspectives and positions in social community work. Using autoethnographic field notes from the perspective of social workers, exclusionary practices of older people from the white, German society in the premises of community work are traced, which can be understood as racist. The text excerpts to be analyzed were collected after the first lockdown as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic in the summer of 2020 in the same community work, which primarily addressed older people before the increased flight migration post 2015. In these complex situations, amplified by the effect of an established categorical understanding of space, the open articulation of racist knowledge was analyzed.
