Anthropotechnics and Disability
摘要
Since Peter Sloterdijk took up the term “anthropotechnics” in his Elmau speech in 1999, it has become a common topos in philosophical debates in Germany. In earlier writings, Sloterdijk had already sketched out a theory of anthropotechnics within the framework of what he called a historical anthropology, according to which the human being is to be understood as a project: a living being that, as an undetermined animal (a formula that goes back to Nietzsche), designs itself towards a future that is still open, imagines desirable states, abilities, social positions, etc., and develops highly diverse techniques and procedures in order to conform to these designs.
