The focus of this paper is the question of how to deal with multiple categorization and category generation, which are already carried out during the first steps of accessing the research field “Low German Afternoon” (in the context of researching late repatriates from the former Soviet Union). This is explained using the hermeneutic interpretation of two types of data: a letter from the researcher to a relevant person in the research field and a memory protocol after making contact with this person. In view of the special interaction dynamics that develop between the researcher and the person from the field, the question also arises as to the processes that constitute the access rules to field research and thus the field itself during this interaction.

摘要

The focus of this paper is the question of how to deal with multiple categorization and category generation, which are already carried out during the first steps of accessing the research field “Low German Afternoon” (in the context of researching late repatriates from the former Soviet Union). This is explained using the hermeneutic interpretation of two types of data: a letter from the researcher to a relevant person in the research field and a memory protocol after making contact with this person. In view of the special interaction dynamics that develop between the researcher and the person from the field, the question also arises as to the processes that constitute the access rules to field research and thus the field itself during this interaction.
