Objectives

In 2018, the ACS Green Chemistry Institute Pharmaceutical Roundtable (GCIPR) published a pharmaceutical manufacturers’ perspective on key green chemistry research areas. Aromatic C–H activation was set as one decisive subject conjointly with cheap/sustainable metal usage and finding an alternative way of oxidation.[8] Inspired by this future-devising assessment, the aim of this work encompasses various asymmetric metallaelectrocatalytic C–H activations, exploiting different 3d metals as the catalytic entity since this unifies the three mentioned crucial research areas and addresses all hurdles concerning C–H activation (scope, selectivity, external oxidants (see Sect. 1.2)).
