Ethical aspects were the starting point of economic considerations from antiquity to the Christian Middle Ages. Today, the question is more about how prosperity can reach all people. Since the financial crisis about 10 years ago, economic theory has been questioned in terms of its explanatory and predictive quality for practice. Simplified economic models with sometimes unrealistic assumptions are critically examined, as are the underlying human image of Homo oeconomicus or purely mathematical optimization models. What is demanded are primarily scientific findings from other social sciences such as sociology and political science, but also from neighboring disciplines such as psychology, philosophy, and neuroscience. The knowledge of all explanatory sciences for the explanation and prediction of economic processes is in demand. What is essential is not the discipline, but the degree of usefulness for explanations. While mathematics is an important science, it is only one of many (auxiliary) sciences and should therefore not dominate in economic theory. In the future, the human being should be more in the foreground of economic considerations.
