Chapters 1 and 2 have studied what recognition and disrespect mean for Axel Honneth. Now, Chap. 3 will analyze the third element of Honneth’s theory: the struggles for recognition. First of all, the chapter will indicate why recognition and struggles work dynamically. Struggles are actions which make recognition possible, and an analysis of the struggles of a community identifies the claims of these persons.
