Prologue

The prologue shows the eminently important role of consensus building in managing people. Only when the discourse in organizations results in the sealing of a common decision, will there be a powerful common action. The author describes the path that he has taken in order to solve the mysteries of the “psychodynamics of consultation”. He drew on pedagogical, psychotherapeutic and phenomenological sources. In doing so, he discovered a five-step sequence that makes it possible to uncover, understand, and solve the psychodynamic problems in teamwork. However, he also discovered that each of the five steps requires different leadership styles. Once this is understood, it is easier to avoid becoming a victim of the dynamics and, on the contrary, to be at the center of the action.
