Privacy in Different Spheres of Life

This chapter addresses the question: Is privacy a stable personality trait or a context-dependent variable? Based on the assumption that individuals face considerations between privacy and security not only in the crime/terror context, but also in other areas such as health and financial fraud, the chapter explores this calculus based on PALS data. The debate revolves around whether privacy is purely context-dependent or if individuals, to some extent, have certain predispositions guiding their context-specific privacy preferences.
