In China, AI is increasingly being integrated into the media landscape, especially in content production, news presentation, and broadcasting. By case studies, this paper examines the current state of news writing robots, AI painting technology and AI news anchors in China, exploring both the advancements and the challenges. It was found that the use of AI technology has pushed the Chinese news media to innovate and transform in both content and form: AI technologies such as writing robots have improved the efficiency and quality of news creation, while the use of AI painting and virtual anchors has provided viewers with fantastic visual effects, attracting thus more viewers and improving the efficiency of news diffusion. However, while AI offers promising opportunities for the media industry, it also presents challenges. Journalism’s foundational role in disseminating accurate information necessitates carefully considering the ethical implications and potential for information distortion brought about by AI. As these technologies continue to evolve and reshape the media ecosystem, the journalism must balance the benefits of AI with the need for ethical responsibility and accuracy. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the current status and future potential of AI in Chinese media, contributing to a deeper understanding of its impact on journalism and societal values.
