Fundamentals of Endocrinology
摘要
In the following chapter, the basics of endocrinology are explained so that the findings of basic research are also comprehensible to laypersons. It becomes clear that the endocrine system (hormonal system) is vital for the human organism. Additionally, the connection between the endocrine system and the psyche is demonstrated, making it evident how hormones initiate our behavior. Hormones have a behavior-modulating effect and can trigger a change in behavior. It is shown that there is an interplay between the brain and other organ systems, and these effects and related findings should by no means be ignored in psychosocial and psychotherapeutic practice. An imbalance of this system can lead to a variety of disease patterns that affect both physiology and psychology. The aim of this chapter is thus to provide you with a basic understanding of the endocrine system in order to comprehend its enormous importance for psychosocial and psychotherapeutic practice.
