Wakefield Acceleration

This chapter begins with a description of laser-driven plasma wakefield acceleration and rough estimates for the size of the plasma cavity and the electric field with which the electrons are accelerated. We are interested in the arrangement of electrons in the accelerated electron bunch. The assumptions that lead to the Hamiltonian, which describes the energy of this system, are then explained.
