摘要

Compared to the other two cases examined in this work, the Venezuelan state is the political entity with the longest and most consolidated statehood. In the territories of present-day Venezuela under Spanish colonial rule, it is possible to speak about an emerging nation with a solid colonial structure and political self-government from the end of the eighteenth century onwards. The background of the Venezuelan state dates back to the establishment of the Captaincy General of Venezuela in 1776 and the first formal institutions for policing society.
