Gemäß des IT Governance Instituts beinhaltet IT Governance « „… leadership, organizational structures and processes to ensure that the organisation’s IT sustains and extends the organisation’s strategies and objectives“ (siehe Wikipedia, Corporate governance of information technology). Diese Definition betont, dass IT-Governance eine Managementaufgabe ist, die Leadership, Organisation und Prozesse beinhaltet
