Detectors and Mixers

In the early days of microwave technology, detectors were the only components used to transfer microwave signal information to the DC- and AC-sector. Nowadays, detectors are mainly only used to control the output power. In contrast, complex circuits in the mixer area have brought about many innovations, which are described in detail below, right up to the IQ receiver. This chapter begins with a brief explanation of detectors and then goes into great detail on the basics of frequency conversion of signals using mixers. Numerous types of mixer circuits through to IQ converters are described.
