Hardly any economic, cultural or political topic can be understood today without its global references. “The world on Site” has become a common metaphor to describe the complex effects of global processes on local everyday life. In this context, the question arises as to what consequences these new developments have for people’s everyday lives, for the environment in which they live, for individuals’ opportunities and future prospects.
