Research Design and Methodology

This chapter elaborates on this dissertation’s research design and methodology for gathering empirical insights into how digital ecosystems can be governed for sustainable digital development using the case study of Kenya. As introduced in Chapter 1, a qualitative and inductive research design is applied for this research purpose using expert interviews for the data gathering process and qualitative content analysis for the data analysis. More specifically, this chapter will firstly discuss the methodological positioning of this research project before analyzing the fieldwork preparation process including sampling, preparation of the interview guideline, interview pretest and field access.
