Theoretical Background and Literature Review: Governing Digital Ecosystems for Sustainable Development using Network Governance

After introducing the relevance of this dissertation, this chapter serves as both a theoretical background and literature review to the highly dynamic research field of ICT4D and of network governance. This combination has been chosen due to the close relation between the network logic in governance research and the network logic of digital technologies. ICT4D lies at the intersection between ICT, development and the transformation process by which ICTs may lead to development.
