Riding a motorcycle is a special attraction for many road users due to the special dynamics of single-track vehicles and the high level of performance available compared to the system’s mass. However, assistance systems, which are increasingly used in the motorcycle sector, face major challenges due to the specific riding dynamics and performance. The following chapter discusses how modern motorcycle riding assistance systems can deal with system instability, riding at roll angles, lifting wheels and the high level of influence from the rider’s mass and position. Stabilization assistance systems are covered as well as modern assistance systems with environment sensing.
