Visibility Enhancement Systems and Signaling Devices
摘要
The following chapter deals with lighting systems in vehicles that have introduced over the last couple of years to provide drivers with better visibility and orientation when driving at night. The chapter begins by presenting the fundamentals of lighting technology, perception, and glare. Then the currently available light sources are discussed. Starting from these, the currently available light assistance systems are described technically, and the advantages of these systems are illustrated by means of examples. This part is concluded by open questions and current problems of automotive lighting technology. The last section discusses possible new types of light signal systems for highly automated vehicles. These are classified in terms of their technological implementation and placed in relation to existing signal systems. In the outlook, the future role of lighting technology in motor vehicles is discussed.
