Citizen Participation in Social Robotics Research

If science fiction stories are to be believed, robots will eventually take over the world as artificial intelligence enables a new form of sentient life superior to our own. The truth, however, is much more prosaic. How robots interact with humans now and in the future depends on what they are designed to do, and in turn, the way they are designed will depend on what uses we can put them to.
