Values
摘要
The present chapter provides an overview of modern intercultural value research. The focus is on the value model of Shalom Schwartz who was able to show that the structure of values is universal across cultures. Furthermore, the function of values for predicting behavior is presented. The importance of value similarities for reducing prejudices and for increasing subjective well-being is also discussed more precisely. For example, people who perceive the values of others as similar to their own tend to report higher well-being. It is also shown how strongly cultural and universal aspects of values contribute to a psychological understanding of moral attitudes and positions.
