Communication and Interaction

Human communication is studied by various scientific disciplines that, at least at first glance, seem to have little to do with each other. The model crucial for psychology’s approach to describing communication processes originates from telecommunications, which makes it particularly plausible for media-mediated mass communication. However, as soon as direct communication between people is addressed, it becomes clear that this approach is only inadequately suited for the analysis of everyday communicative situations. Sociological models are employed to move beyond the individual-focused paradigm of psychology, using social contexts to explain communicative processes and interactions between people.
