Methodology

The last chapter discussed the results of three strains of research on attitudes and behavior in the context of distributive justice. Item-based surveys and survey experiments have proven to be highly valuable methods for justice research. It is critical for our understanding of justice attitudes to ask individuals directly for their normative values with item-based measurements or let them evaluate hypothetical scenarios in survey experiments, where context variables can be manipulated in ways that would otherwise not or hardly be possible.
