Trends in Journalism and the Media: Rethinking the Future of a Profession in the Network Society
摘要
Three decades ago, the Internet reshaped the characteristics of the information ecosystem in the Network Society. Today, as journalism practices, contents, audiences, and business models are adapting to the new communicative environment, journalistic experimentation continues to lead the way because of the possibilities offered by new technologies (virtual reality, artificial intelligence, metaverse or blockchain). Key trends in these areas of journalism are examined: audiences, technologies, legacy media and start-ups, formats and products, business models, ethics, and professional practices. The time is ripe for a new paradigm shift that will disruptively transform the way journalists work and news companies operate.
