Networking Events: From Clear Targets to Strong Connections
摘要
Networking events are particularly beneficial once you have a clear target. By preparing specifically, you can find suitable conversation partners more quickly and provide even more added value. Identify thematic connections and consider appropriate conversation starters that will lead from general small talk to more personal Big Talk. Adapt your conversations so that you are well understood. Use simple and universally comprehensible language for the interested public, more advanced language for your professional audience, and a combination of both for a mixed audience. Whether it is a Science Slam, a PechaKucha talk, your PhD thesis defense, a research proposal, or a job interview, your networking conversations and your Science Pitch should be clear in content but never literally scripted in preparation.
