The Phases of a Plant Construction Project

This chapter provides an overview of the various phases of a project for the construction of a process engineering production plant up to its operation: study phase, concept phase, design planning, execution planning, procurement, assembly, commissioning and operation. The “HDRE Engineer” as a specialist engineer in the role of machine planner and procurer fulfills important functions in all phases. He represents his role in the sense of the owner or operator of the production plant. Since HDRE machine trains are usually “Long Lead Equipment”, their procurement is often time- and quality-critical and must be planned in detail.
