On the Physics of the Corona

The corona releases the electrical charges which electrically charge the particles in the gas flow. As a result, the particles can be moved by the electric field to the collecting electrode, collected there and separated from the process. The existence of the corona forms the prerequisite for the function of the electrostatic precipitator; the limits of its properties thus also limit the functional range of the electrostatic precipitator (ESP).
