The Cinefication of Jihadi Video
摘要
In a stocktacking of the initial theses of this book, its final chapter recommends a classification of the Islamic State’s film not as similar to Hollywood, but as a cinema of transgression and as a crude sub-cinema jihadi pornography with varying aesthetic textures that were seemingly loosely inspired by post-classical Hollywood film of the 2010s. Looking beyond the Islamic State film’s purview, this chapter briefly highlights the Islamic State’s newly found role in first and second cinema: consequential in their liberal and commercial philosophies, documentaries and fictional productions of first and second cinema economies have treated the Islamic State exclusively as an antagonist. Today, still unable to change its stance on ideology, the film of the Islamic State appears to lie in wait in hopes of reviving itself.
