This article firstly provides an overview of the Austrian consumer policy landscape, introducing the main actors briefly. Secondly, it focuses on societal participation processes, presenting civil society consumption initiatives in Austria and elaborating on their similarities and differences. Finally, it explores the potential that such grassroots movements can have for socio-political strategies and processes.
