An In-Between Time: The World Discovers Itself

  • Ludger Kühnhardt

摘要

In his novel The Last World, Christoph Ransmayr tells us of the mythological transformation of civilization back into a state of nature. In the end, there is a world without humans. What Ovid, the author of the Metamorphoses, experienced in exile in Tomi on the Black Sea, always applies to everyone: “No one remains in his form” (Ransmayr 2019, p. 40). Ludger Kühnhardt always followed the opposite logic: Appropriating the world by seeing its many different people.
