Foundations: Underlying Concepts of this Research

This chapter constitutes the foundations for the studies of this dissertation and introduces the underlying concepts of this research. To this end, the concept of CPS is first introduced (cf. Section 2.1), followed by the based upon vision of Industry 4.0 (cf. Section 2.2) before the resulting requirements for the design and engineering of industrial CPS are derived (cf. Section 2.3).
